Hi, I’m Rebecca
A little about me
Yoga has been part of my life for many years, but my understanding of what yoga has to offer has changed over time.
Like many women, I have spent a lot of my life doing, organising, looking after others and getting on with things. I've known what it's like to keep going when perhaps what I really needed was to stop for a while and listen to what was going on underneath it all.
Yoga has given me a way of doing that.
I still love the movement. I love exploring what the body can do, building strength and mobility, and discovering that things can feel different from one day to the next. But for me, yoga has become much less about how a pose looks and much more about how it feels.
How Yoga Shapes My Thinking
Yoga has made me more curious about the things I might otherwise rush past — a tightness I hadn't noticed, a breath I'm holding, a feeling that needs a little more space. Sometimes the most useful thing is not to push through, but simply to notice what's happening.
I've also learned to value rest differently. Not as something to feel guilty about or something we do once everything else is done, but as an essential part of life. Even when we are still, our bodies are busy restoring and renewing.
Living in the beautiful Herefordshire landscape, with nature all around me, I find it hard not to notice the changing seasons and their different rhythms. I try to bring this into my classes. Nothing is constantly growing, flowering or full of energy. There is a time for activity and a time for rest, for holding on and letting go, for growth and renewal.
A Supportive Space
Family is a big part of my life, too. As my children have grown up and left home, family life has changed, but it's still very much at the heart of what I do. Being involved in my growing family, including life as a grandparent, brings its own joys, demands and reminders of how quickly things change.
I'm also continuing to learn and explore my own yoga practice. I qualified with the School of Living Yoga and continue to practise regularly each week with my teachers. I value having that time to learn, ask questions and keep discovering, rather than feeling that I have all the answers.
I want to offer through Thrive Yoga & Wellbeing: a supportive space where you can explore movement, notice what your body needs, and find time for breath and rest. A place where you don't have to get it right, keep up or be anything other than you are.
